Trophy smallmouth and crappie guide
Catching trophies and making memories one trip at a time.
Dale Hollow Feb. Smallmouth Fishing
The live bait bite is pretty much over on Dale Hollow. You can pick up a few fish on creek minnows in the creeks or drifting shiners deep over the suspended bait schools out on the main lake. The float n fly is still working well this month and on some days they are still biting jigs good. On sunny days the fish hold on shady bluffs around cover and are easy to come by.
Old Hickory Lake Feb.
Alot of fish biting in the steamplant this month. Reports of 30 and 40 lb. striper being caught on skipjack in the canal as well as on the bluffs and around the islands. Topwater bite is good before daylight till bout first hr. of daylight. Fishing on down lines around bluffs and islands about 15ft. deep on large shiners and skipjacks. Caught some crappie on the bluffs about 15ft. deep also around brushpiles. Bass hand around the laydowns and ripraps in the canal of the steamplant and hit lipless crankbaits, buzzbaits, and crankbaits. The key is to find a spot just out of the current. With all the high and muddy water conditions the fishing has been hit and miss. They are really pulling the lake.
Barren River Crappie Fishing
March 4th
Crappie fishing is heating up. Caught several today. Lots of small fish in the mix but still managed a few slabs before I had to leave. Seemed like they really turned on when the water temp reached 44 degrees. It was 41 at daylight. Caught em on laydowns on the bluffs, stump rows in 6 ft. of water and shallow brushpiles. I used tubes with panfish juice from www.juicedupbaits.com
and they killed it! You guys gotta try this stuff.
